Homeschooler’s Field Trip Is A Great Way To Unplug For Virtual Assistants

By rochefel | blogs , Leisure

Very recently, my daughter and I joined a parent’s organized field trip to the Philippine Air Force and Army Museum for home-schooling kids. This homeschooler’s field trip is a great way to unplug for Virtual Assistants like me and for other working parents out there who rarely have time to think and organize a quick, worthwhile time with kids.
For busy parents like me, this activity is a blessing for many reasons. Let me share a few things with you.
This is a done-for-me activity where I no longer have to think of a way to introduce a new lesson to my daughter. Educational and fun at the same time.
The museum trip covers a lot of subjects, not to mention the values that we can all get from the history of our ARMED forces.
Mural PAF
1. Kids soooo love to play with their school mates, thus, burning all their energy for the day.

2. A good family-bonding activity for us.
battle field
3. And a good way for moms to catch up with co-parents and friends.

4. Affordable, of course!
5. Travel is no sweat for those living in the metro.

See, I’ve already enumerated 7 advantages, so there’s nothing left for me but to say YES when it was proposed by our co-parent, Thea Berida. Thanks to her undying passion in organizing these types of activities and to Rusty, who coordinated with PAF and ARM, despite short notice.
Oleg loved the games that Len and her husband created for the kids and their running and chasing each other for hours gave them so much sweat and fun while parents relax and watch them with amazement and a little jealousy of their strength.
The games were random, according to the kids’ liking, as they chose their own group of friends to play with but when they were grouped as BOYS vs GIRLS, they were all so competitive and very eager to beat the other. I sensed that they all learned how to compete in a friendly manner, without having to fight and bully each other. I also noticed that they were sharing ideas, communicating to each other and suggesting game plans and ideas.
The value of friendship and sharing while having fun. For me, nothing beats that! What else can I ask for but a part 2?

Quick Slimming Technique For A Perfect Swimwear Fit

By rochefel | blogs , Leisure

Summer has already started and I’m sure, even if you’re working from home, you’re also planning to get away from work, have some fun and feel good about yourself. Here’s what I discovered to be a quick slimming technique for a perfect swimwear fit. Best for moms working from home and can rarely go out for a gym or even those who go to the gym but wants to enhance its results.
I discovered this when I paid “Skin Philosophie Medical Aesthetic and Lifestyle Solutions” – a skin clinic in BGC #skinphilosophie a visit. It’s a newly established Aesthetics and Personality Development Clinic located at 3rd Level, The Fort Strip, 28th Street corner 7th Ave., Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig City 1634, owned by Doctor Kyla Talens .
The clinic’s customer experience is superb where you’ll experience the warmest welcome from their staffs and even from the owner/s themselves. Aside from Doctor Kyla, her mother, Grace Talens is always there to help manage it’s operations, making sure that clients are happy and satisfied.
Going back to the slimming process, they introduced the Radio Frequency Slimming Technique where your fats will be dissolved without the need for a liposuction and other expensive treatments. See how I was enjoying the process?
A heat is being applied to the part of your body where you have unwanted fats and after 40 minutes of rubbing, you instantly step out an inch or two thinner depending on how much fats was dissolved in the process. No pain, no long hours of work out and no ripping your pockets off!
For their other summer promo:
* As an exclusive reader of my blog, you can avail an additional discount by taking screenshot of this blogpost and present it to Skin Philosophie during your visit.
– additional 5% off for the RF (radio frequency)promo
– additional 10% off on underarm laser hair removal and underarm whitening
* Validity of promo
– RF promo and underarm laser hair removal – until May 31, 2o15
– underarm whitening – until May 15, 2015
Make sure you call them on this numbers 0917-8860646 / 0917-8906800 / 02-2118762 / 02-2158080 / 02-8567451 for an appointment to avoid waiting and if you get the discount, share this to your friends and families, too so they’ll get the same benefits! You can also do this as a family or friends bonding time!
As virtual assistant who always stay at home, we deserve a little pampering. This is one of it and I’m glad to have shared it with you. Let me know if you’ve gone to their clinic and what you think of their service. 🙂

Virtual Assistants Need To Relax And Get Pampered At Times

By rochefel | blogs , Leisure

Since October 2014, I have been working NON-STOP, literally no days off at all! I was feeling tired even though I was enjoying my work. My body was looking for something else to do and of course, Virtual Assistants need to relax and get pampered at times so I decided I want one, too!
After 5 months of working and reaching one of my major goals, I deserve to give myself some pampering! I picked up the phone, set up an appointment with Skin Philosophie Medical Aesthetic and Lifestyle Solutions by Dr. Kyla M. Talens, Aesthetic Dermatologist. This is an affordable luxury for anyone wanting to feel special, so now, I’m putting it in my calendar for March 22nd and that’s a date to treat my self!
Anyway, just sharing my excitement on the said appointment and will surely let you know how it feels to be enjoying from time to time. We all work hard and should be rewarded. If other people won’t give it to us, we owe it to ourselves to find things that can relax us.

What Needs to be Relaxed?

1. Your body
2. Mind
3. And spirit.
Because a relaxed and well-rested body can think better for the improvement of yourself and business. Ideas will flow like they’re being fed to you and your mind will just pour it all when you need them. Your spirit will be there to give you an extra ounce of energy and inspiration to get on with your dreams.
Take note, living your dreams doesn’t mean you’ll be working so hard that you won’t even have the time to look and feel good about yourself. With success comes how you present yourself and this is where Skin Philosophie is an expert with so I’m taking a break for now and go back to reaching my dreams after.
I remember Paolo Coehlo in his first book, The ALCHEMIST. He said that once you have fully decided to achieve something, the whole universe is conspiring to help you reach your dreams and I’ve been a living proof that it’s true. All you need to do is decide and commit to it.
Since the road towards your dreams isn’t a straight line, with lots of ups and downs, curves and dead ends, taking enough rest, little pampering and happy times with yourself, family and loved ones will help your get through all of them. No matter how simple an activity is, as long as you’re getting enough relaxation, more smiles and laughters, it will be enough to fuel your journey.
I say, see you for my next post after my little “pampering” but before I leave, I would like to share a privilege exclusive only to my readers. Since I am an accredited online lead generator for Skin Philosophie Medical Aesthetic and Lifestyle Solutions, anyone who signs up in the form below will be entitled for a 10% discount in any regular service.

What Is A Meet-up and Why It’s Important for Virtual Assistants?

By rochefel | blogs , Leisure

What is a meet-up and why it’s important for virtual assistants, bloggers, home-based entrepreneurs and the likes? Recently, I’ve attended two meet-ups. One is a VA meet-up and the other one is a Bloggers and Lead Generator’s Network meet-up.
The first one which I personally organized is just to meet established, new and aspiring Virtual Assistants in the Professional VAs Facebok Group. It was an informal gathering at SM Mega Mall, just sharing stories, dreams, struggles and our own successes in the online business and of course, make new friends and have fun!
Check out our pictures and the beautiful faces of the VAs in the group! If you want to join us next time, wait for my announcement in the Professional VAs Facebok Group and you’ll surely have more fun, too!

What is a Meet-up?

For those who haven’t heard the word “meet-up” yet, a “Meet-up” is a term that means a meeting, especially a regular meeting of people who share a particular interest and have connected with each other through a social-networking website.
The term was popularized by a website,, where a group of people having a common interest meet to learn, do or share something.
Another meet-up that I attended is a Bloggers’ and SEO Lead Generation Network meet-up organized by Janette Toral, a Filipino Digital entrepreneur guru and I am so privileged to have the opportunity to meet some of her students.

The meeting was sponsored by Lopez’ Canteen at the 2nd Floor of UP Diliman, Bahay ng Alumni Building and to tell you the truth, the food was more than enough for all of us! I didn’t think that a small meet-up like that can be full of surprises!
bloggers meet up oranizers
There were treats of candies, cupcakes and a beautiful decoration by Yellow Stylista, give aways by Raiza Rayne Scents and our official photographer, E-mack Photography by Mark B. Gana. All of them were organized by Jennifer Lopez, owner of Digified Soluitons.

Why Meet-ups are Important for Virtual Assistants and Bloggers Alike?

If you’ve been working from home for a while and you haven’t been going out to work somewhere else, you’ll notice that you’re saving a lot from your transportation and food expenses. That means you’re also losing your chances of meeting new people, socialize and have fun outside of your home-office.
In order to keep ourselves healthy, we shouldn’t only take care of the food we eat, the fluids that we drink and the exercise that we do. We should also make sure that our social life is balanced, at least once a week of unplugging from work and take our minds off of work. This is also another way to keep us “in the loop” with our VA or blogger friends.
We get to meet friends, share stories, learn from what has been shared, have a good meal, a good chat and great laughs! What else can you ask for?
Where have you been lately? Have you tried meeting with new people with the same interest as you? Share your meet-up stories and your way to keep up with your social life and have fun! Working from home is never easy and it should be up to us to keep our life balance. After all, it’s our own business, right?

Palm Sunday and the Holy Week

By rochefel | blogs , Leisure

Philippines is a country of tradition and religion. Most of it we got from Spain which took us over for more than 300 years. You can see a lot of Spanish last names still being used today, even some of our words and food have so so much in common. Maybe some of them has evolved within the years but some hasn’t.
The reason why I’m telling you this is so that you’ll understand a bit of what I’ll share with you today. Not much of the VA stuff I used to post but it’s my way of introducing our culture and how we celebrate them.
The Lenten season is a 40-day-celebration here in the Philippines. The first day of lent was on The Ash Wednesday, March 5th, 2014, exactly 46 days before Easter. This is where the season of preparation for the resurrection of Jesus Christ begins.
Everyone hears mass on Ash Wednesday where the Priest puts a cross sign on everyone’s forehead using anointed oil made of burnt palm leaves from last year’s celebration. People are not supposed to erase the cross sign so everybody walking on the street have this sign on their heads.

Palm sunday

The peak of the celebration comes 3 weeks after and is called the Palm Sunday. It is a Christian moveable feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter. The feast commemorates Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, an event mentioned in all four canonical Gospels.
These “palm leaves” are called “palaspas” and mostly made of coconut leaves, decorated with ribbons and flowers, folded and grouped together in different ways to look nicer.
The Parish Priest walks in the aisle like Jesus walks in the gate of Jerusalem, riding a donkey, while people wave the palm leaves as a sign of warm welcome. At the end of the mass, the priest will bless the Palm with holy water and the leaves will be preserved until the following year of the next Lenten season, to be used for the ash Wednesday.
Of course, what would the vendors do but to enjoy the season, too? As the church is filled with with patrons, so as the business-minded people who earns a living out of selling religious items and other stuff. Together, they make the church look more than a feast.
Then, Holy Monday and Maundy Tuesday and Holy Wednesday will seem normal because most people still go to work and business establishments open for business. The real Holiday starts on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Black Saturday and Easter Sunday.
This is longest Holidays we have here that’s why most people take advantage of the time to set family reunions and other gatherings which is mostly in the beach to enjoy the summer vacation. This is also the part where the opinions of people are divided. If it’s alright to enjoy during the Holy Week or keep its holiness by staying at home, going to church and keep a strict fasting.
It’s up to you to decide which one would you vote on. Below are some pictures we’ve taken during the week. Hope we’re able to share a bit of our culture with you. In my next post, I will be sharing more pictures about how people do their “penance” or what we call here, “penitensya”. Watch out for more pictures and stories from us!

My First Virtual Assistant Weekend Gateway!

By rochefel | blogs , Leisure

I rarely open myself up in public and since I’ve been giving a couple of video trainings, I thought that taking a peek at one of our weekend adventure will give you more idea about my “inner circle”.
The reason why this out of town trip was organized is because of my “Sister”. She was given a two-week-off by their community after serving for seven straight years of service. This also serves as her preparation to her chosen vocation, before finally taking her “permanent vow” in the religious life, in Carmelite Missionaries.
Anyway, I only have two siblings, (on my mother side, you know what that means.Lol!) both girls and I’m the eldest. Next to me is seven years younger than I am, “the Nun”. The reason for all this family adventure. 🙂 Then our youngest, thirteen years younger than I am, an HR officer in a popular coffee chain here and abroad.
We rarely go out as a family and this is one of the best vacation we had, so far. Maybe because this is our first overnight stay in a single room together, all members complete and excited!

Sharing You the Foods from My Virtual Assistant Getaway

Now let’s get to the food part! I really want you get that virtual vacation, too!
One of the famous Filipino dish is the Lechon. It’s a whole pig, stuffed with authentic Filipino spices, roasted in slow fire, with 6-8 hours of slow roasting, manual turning over hot charcoal. How I wish I can also describe exactly how it taste!
Am I making your mouth water now? (giggles) There’s more!
We also cooked kaldereta, the “lechon” meat sauteed in garlic, onion, tomato paste, liver spread, with potato and carrots. This was really good especially when added a bit of chilis. Yum, yum!
A Filipino lunch wouldn’t be complete without the sinigang! This “lechon” meat was simmered with fresh tamarind fruit, onion, tomato and green chili. Perfect for a hot summer lunch out!
But wait… There’s more!
How about this 6-kilo-fish caught by local fishermen, grilled to perfection paired with vegetable salad? While I’m writing this, we’re currently cooking all of them and I get the chance to taste and approve it! What a cool job for the weekend, huh? Lol!
And what could the beach fun be without the water adventure? Oh, yeah! No more story-telling this time because I’m letting you see it all and maybe have a bit of fun, too!
